Beat the Thanksgiving fat bulge with these diet and nutrition tips
Thanksgiving is a holiday we all love, filled with relaxing time to catch up with family members and friends while enjoying good eats. Many times, however, we tend to over eat on Thanksgiving day and for those of us who manage our weight very strictly this can be a temptation we can’t resist and can lead to a few unwanted pounds. Well if you want to avoid adding that extra belt size size listen up and stay in shape these holidays.
#1 - You must try to manage your portions. I know we all can over do it and tend to gorge ourselves by going back for seconds, but you must resist the temptation and not over eat since that will lead to a lot of extra calories that wont be getting burned. Another good tip is try not to load your plate up with 20 things at once, instead just put a couple of items on at a time, this way you will most likely eat less and not feel obligated to finish off that plate. Lastly, drink plenty of water, that will make you feel fuller faster and help control that appetite!
#2 - Try to eat healthy this Thanksgiving, this shouldn’t be to hard since a lot of the regular dishes at the table are already pretty healthy. But there’s a few things you should try to avoid, for instance dark turkey meat. Try to go with the white since it contains about half the fat of dark meat. Also, omit the white bread rolls and instead go with the wheat. Be sure to lookout and avoid the added condiments (butter, salt, dressings, etc.) since these are usually loaded with extra fat and sodium.
#3 - Avoid alcohol all together and if you do drink some, please do it in moderation. Not only does it provide empty calories that will need to get burned before your body burns the fat energy stores, but it also lowers your ability to avoid those fatty foods, and the more you drink, the more likely you are to have a few servings of that pumpkin pie.
#4 - Don’t let yourself get to stressed out. Stress is one of the main reasons people over eat during the holidays. Try to plan the meal far in advanceso you aren’t rushed Thanksgiving day. Also, have a few people helping out with the cooking and setting up this way you won’t be super-overwhelmed.
#5 - Start a new tradition and go for a walk after dinner, instead of laying around watching football on TV. You’ll be burning calories and relieving stress. Another thing to remember is, don’t let all your hard work in the gym be an excuse to over eat, or worse, eat unhealthy food during the holidays! Always remember your hard work that got you that current physique, while considering that Thanksgiving is one day and not a week-long feast! Pick back up with your intense workout routine the next day, and continue the success!
Stick to these 5 tips and you’ll avoid those extra pounds when Thanksgiving rolls around! Happy & safe holidays folks!
