This was my first time doing the Back and Biceps routine in my 5th week of the P90X program and I was looking forward to it because there are no repeat exercises so that means a lot of variety which I think is more fun then doing the same thing over and over.
I used to always do super-sets with my triceps and biceps and I did a lot of sets, so my arms are used to being worked hard. Doing my biceps with my back was something I haven’t done in many years so I was hoping I would really feel it. It is the next morning now and they are pretty sore, I think the fact that you don’t repeat exercises and there is a lot of variety it makes it really tough on both your biceps and back. The final set for your biceps where you do eight reps of dumbbell curls and then drop your weight by 5 pounds and do eight more, until you have gotten to 32 total reps, was really tough for me to get through. I knew once I was finished that I would be feeling it the next day because as it was my biceps felt sore already so I made sure to stretch them out before I did Ab Ripper X.
Bottom line with this workout is it is very difficult and it will really push you, but since there are no repeat exercises it is one of the more enjoyable routines in the P90X program, you are always doing something new.
