Health Tip: Eat Veggies Lose Weight

Everybody knows that vegetables are good for you. They are full of many vitamins and minerals, not to mention many other plant chemicals that are good for the body. Eating your veggies also helps prevent certain diseases, but a health tip that most people don’t know is that it helps you lose weight and look better too!

Veggies are low in fat and calories so they make a great choice for a snack, but they are also low in sodium. Sodium causes the body to hold water and most Americans eat too much sodium, which then in turn causes them to hold more water weight. Many doctors agree that eating a diet low in sodium can help to lose up to 5 pounds in water weight and what better food to eat then vegetables that are low in sodium and high in nutrients.

Another great thing about veggies is that they are high in fiber. This will fill your stomach up much faster than foods which contain less fiber–and since you’re going to be filled up more easily by a low calorie, low fat food, the chances of mis-eating greatly decreases.

This should be a strong, simplified way to shed a few extra pounds pretty easily, just get in the habit of going for the veggies before you pick up the junk food!

More great news is that the vitamins and chemicals found in vegetables boost energy production in muscle cells. The boosted energy production in muscle cells will give you more energy and should make you more active, this should help burn even more calories throughout the day. Even more great news is that vegetables help to keep wrinkles away and make you look more youthful. There has been studies that suggest Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and the minerals zinc and selenium help keep wrinkles from developing and those nutrients are found in many vegetables (broccoli, sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, leafy greens, peas, asparagus, tomatoes).

So incorporate vegetables into your diet more often. You will have more energy, be consuming a low calorie high nutrient food, become fuller more easily helping you eat less and you will help keep the wrinkles away.
