Super setting is something that I have done for many years and strongly believe in. It’s great for building both size and strength fast, not to mention that it’s the fastest way to tear through a workout with superior results! Join us as we learn about this spectacular exercise theory!
Super setting is great for all muscle groups, but I believe it creates the best results when you super set with your biceps and triceps. I have done many other routines over the years and nothing gives my arms the size and growth better than supersets.
Although I find super sets to be a great exercise, there are many out there who don’t fully understand what “superset” really means, in its truest form….including examples for proper execution! I think it is important to first define what exactly super sets are and then elaborate from there.
Super-sets are 2 exercises that are performed back to back with minimal to no rest in between sets. You can do them with the same muscle group or with 2 different muscle groups. When you do them with the pairing of 2 opposite muscles such as your biceps and triceps like I do, that is called antagonist super setting. When one muscle is contracting the other is relaxed and this is very advantageous because it allows you to use more weight and do more reps, also it makes your workout move at lightning fast speeds and burns greater amounts of calories.
Paring your chest and back, quadriceps and hamstrings would be 2 other examples of antagonist super setting. Now, to put it in even more basic terms, to perform a superset with your biceps and triceps you would simply do a triceps exercise, such as triceps rope pull down, following completion, you’d immediately walk over to a preacher curl machine and perform a set with your biceps.
Then take a short rest and do it again!
That is all there is to antagonist supersets. Not much more to go, sport! Let’s review some basic pro’s to this “supersetting” technique we’ve just discussed briefly.
-Gives you a great pump
-Really gets the heart rate going
-Dramatically increases size and strength in least time
These 3 reasons alone are the very core of why I won’t do any other exercise routine for my biceps and triceps–I simply can’t find one better!
Another form of supersets is called agonist super setting. This means you do 1 exercise per muscle group, then immediately do another one with the same muscle group, all with minimal to no rest.
Employing Agonist Supersets is not only a great way to speed up your workout and really push your endurance, but also works great in minimal amounts of time, allowing you MASSIVE growth in the shortest possible time frames!
Now, it is no coincidence that I said I could not find another arms routine that got me more size and strength than supersets. The reason supersets are a great way to increase size is because they boost the release of anabolic hormones like testosterone, which is responsible for muscle growth. It’s really a no-brainer now…whenever I switch my arms routine I simply can’t find one that compares with the ol’ supersetter!
So, whether you’re looking for massive size with no time to burn, stuck on another plateau, or simply love new challenges…it;s a must you give supersets a whirl, if not with your biceps and triceps , test them out with some other muscle groups!
They are fast, very intense, and the absolute best way to build both size and strength fast. Give ‘em a shot for a full month or two and the results will speak for themselves!

I like the idea of supersets. My main problem is that my gym is often too busy to implement them. A machine/bench/weight will be free one minute but then taken after you finish your first exercise. Perhaps I should get to the gym first thing Saturday morning and give them a whirl. I doubt it will be very busy on a Saturday morning.
If you can find a way to get into your gym when it isn’t so busy you should. Supersets are the best way to make your arms explode and get big quickly. I don’t think there is a better way to work out your arms personally, but super setting with any muscle group is challenging and very rewarding.
